Hello, and thank you for checking out my blog! This post would have been up ages ago if I hadn’t spent weeks (possibly months) agonizing over what to write. Most of what I did write was in the forms of texts to my incredibly patient website designer that began with, “I PROMISE I’m working on that first blog post!” or “I’ll finish that first blog post soon, don’t worry!” I’ve used words to create entire realms, but the thought of writing a few sentences welcoming people to my website, talking about myself, hoping to strike just the right balance being interesting without seeming pretentious…it terrified me. So, let’s start there. I’m realizing that the process of being an author is going to be very different from the process of writing a book. It’s going to be quite the journey, and it’s one I hope you’ll take with me. As I said in my poetry book, Once Upon a Girl, “These experiences are not always pretty, but they are real.” And as life has repeatedly shown me, truth is always stranger than fiction.
